WWE is constantly experimenting, forever tinkering with its product. You have to in today’s climate. Things lose their freshness quickly with our shorter-than-Hornswoggle attention spans. Vince McMahon and company had their latest round of tinkering last week with the Superstar Shakeup. Of all the roster shuffling moves that were made, Charlotte going to SmackDown Live could have the biggest long-term implications. It will showcase Sasha Banks’ star potential.

When you think of the best wrestling stars of all time, a guy like Triple H should probably make your short list of wrestlers, if you want to sound like you know what you are talking about. With expertise in jiu-jitsu and a superb mat technician, one could make the argument that he is one of the best pure wrestlers the business has ever witnessed. On the other hand, when you think of the most popular wrestling stars of all time, you could name quite a few characters before you get to The Cerebral Assassin, wherein lies the problem. Cerebral is characterized by the use of intellect rather than intuition or instinct. Extreme intellect does not always resonate with a television audience, especially in an industry where many of its consumers are not old enough to drink. Younger demographics, which is reported to have more discretionary income and more willing to spend it, appeal to a little more flash than substance. The Rock, although an extremely talented wrestler in his own right, had so much flair and charisma that jumped off the television screen. Little kids mimicked Rock far more than The Game.

In this analogy, Charlotte is Triple H and Sasha Banks is The Rock. The 2nd generation Flair is one of the most gifted talents on the roster, regardless of gender. Her in-ring psychology, furthermore, is one of intellect as she uses smart, underhanded tactics to get ahead. This may go over the heads of some young and casual fans. Sasha, meanwhile, as evidenced by her WrestleMania 33 entrance, embodies The Brahma Bull’s flair for the spotlight. While not as athletic as Charlotte, she can definitely hold her own against anyone in the Women’s Division. Her chic, strong mic game and an active social media presence will beholden her to fans much the way The Rock did in his wrestling prime.

Both women are on the fast track to having legendary careers. Charlotte will have the ring expertise in her favor, but Sasha Banks should become one of the biggest stars in WWE history.
